Here is my Final Edit. The After Effects that I have used in my film include the following: Our Production logo that is shown at the very beginning of the film, this is counted as one of my after effects as I took time to Update the logo from the original to what it is now. As you can see the difference when you watch my Preliminary Task One and then my Preliminary Task Two. My Other After Effects used is the credits, when the names 'Niav Rice' & 'Pheobe Armitage', this after effect is called a slow fade animation on letters. An extra After Effect I added was a 'Glitch' On one of my actors, this one is not visible at first but you can definitely see the glitch, this Effect is used 0:25 seconds into the short film.
Hi Mele
ReplyDeleteOverall Score: 16/20
Well done on your hard work, pulling off your first ever filming project! Really great start to build on.
- I like the logo, it's really effective. Your Production Studio name just needs to be a lot bigger
- great choice of music to have over the beginning logo / title to pre-empt what's coming / set the tone
- Movie title should really be more of a focus. This needed to be bigger and on the screen for longer
- some really great shots / composition of shots here. Well done
- possibly thinking about font of credits flashing up on screen would be good to find a font / style that compliments the genre/ style and theme of your film (be more deliberate with these)
- The lighting in the passage is great, really works with the shadows
- Good match on action shots of opening and going through door
- Unfortunately the 180' rule was broken here! How unfortunate! All your shots of the passage are great but you jumped across the line and filmed from across that 180' line which breaks continuity.
- I feel like your music lining up with the action on screen needs slightly more work. The moment of realisation where Niav looks up and sees the assassin needed either a break in music or sound effect or something to point to the fact that this is a Pivotel moment. The music then builds for a chase scene and stops abruptly at the point when they enter the room. It seems like music should continue and the chase scene could have been longer to really build suspense.
- Red hue in shooting scene is great. Maybe needs some better planning if that's the point you're wanting to have blood as the blood is lost in the red.
- credits need to fit conventions of a credit sequence at the end of a film. They seemed to be in an incorrect template of sorts that wasn't what is usually played at the end of a film.
Overall a great effort, Mele! Well done. A few things to tweak and get better at. I'm sure the next one will be a real step up now that you've learnt a few things!
