Context around the film: The new series closely follows the film’s premise of a group of socially awkward den of centuries-old vampires trying to adjust to modern city life. The justification for the TV version seems to be building more story, more jokes and sight gags, and more awkward clashes between vampires and humans — in short, more of everything fans have come to love about the film.

Marketing Campaigns: What we did in the Shadows is known as the master class in Viral Marketing.

How was it distributed: What we did in the shadows was finally distributed by the US after debuting at the Sundance Film Festival. Unison Films will handle the U.S. theatrical release while The Orchard has secured U.S. digital, DVD and broadcast distribution rights to the film. The two companies are teaming with Funny or Die, which will leverage its social media and marketing reach leading up to the film’s release.

Reviews made about the film:

  • The execution could use some refining, but the comedy elements are surely sound.

( Mike Massie )

  • I know vampires may have overstayed their welcome in pop culture at the moment, but trust me when I say this one deserves your attention.
