Homeland Representation Essay:
In this Crime TV Drama, ‘Homeland’, we see the Representation of Women being Uplifted. In this Short extract Women are being Represented as being Bold, Strong-willed, and Persistent. In this film we see a Lady named Carrie Mathison standing up for someone who is in a tough situation. With this we also see the Contrast between Men and Women, Men being seen as rough, aggressive and violent, and women seen as Carrie. Carrie is one of the Main Characters in this Short Extract, we see this through the eyes of the camera as it Quick cuts to different Shots of her also linking to how her voice is also the main dialogue heard as well.
This links to the Sound Bridge that is created when the Prisoner is looking out the bar windows of his cell but the voice is of Carrie who was evidently talking about the man in the prison cell, linking to how the story of the Short extract wraps around the man in prison called Ibrahim. The Camera shots are all hand-held and shaky creating meaning to the place in which the film is set in being Iraq. In the film we are given an establishing Shot of Baghdad, it is dull and has an almost dusty ambience to it that helps set the scene.
Leading to my next point of the Contrasting factor of Ethnicities between the people of the US and the people of Iraq.
